NON DOD STORAGE APPROVAL AUTHORITY
Marine Corps Systems Command Program Manager for Ammunition has been granted authorization from the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) to approve certain categories of non DoD storage requests from Marine Corps installations. Previously all non DoD storage requests were sent to NOSSA for approval.
What does this mean for the installations? A shorter time line for receiving authorizations.
How does this change the current submittal process? The only change for the installations is requests will be sent to Commander MARCORSYSCOM vice sending to NOSSA. Storage requests identified in 10 USC 2692 Public Law, (as amended 1998), Non-DoD Owned Hazardous Materials Authorization Matrix, as requiring approval by higher authority will be readdressed and routed through approved channels to the proper approving authority by MARCORSYSCOM.
NON DOD STORAGE RETROGRADE PLANS
The Retrograde Plan Guide is intended to provide guidance on developing
retrograde plans which are a required part of the official request for
storage of non-DOD ammunition. The intent of the plans is to ensure all
parties have thought about how to properly manage non-DOD ammunition that is
left over after the training/testing evolution is complete and prior to the
expiration of the storage authorization.
