The functions of the Environmental and Explosives Safety Team is to:
- Review regulatory compliance, endorse, and recommend Secretarial Certifications/Waivers/Deviations/and Exemptions to explosives safety requirements
- Review regulatory, endorse, and recommend Site Plan Approval Requests, Explosives Safety Submissions (ESS), and Non-DoD Ammunition Storage Requests
- Review and approve Event Waiver Requests
- Conduct Environmental Compliance Evaluations (ECE)
- Provide Tactical Explosives Safety support for training and contingency operations
- Provide disposition instructions for unserviceable, obsolete, and waste military munitions
- Provide Marine Corps Explosives Safety Officers (ESO) with explosives safety information and training
- Provide Technical Assist Visits (TAV) to Marine Corps installations for both Explosives Safety Program Management, and Environmental Compliance Evaluation
- Provide Marine Corps representation to a variety of Joint Service and DoD Boards, Committees, and working groups/teams on topics relative to explosives safety
