Marines,
I would like to take a moment to express my gratitude to the Program Manager of Ammunition, Mr. Jerry Mazza, for the opportunity to come to PM, Ammunition and serve as the Deputy, Program Manager for Ammunition. I am truly humbled and extremely grateful for the opportunity to fill this position.
As I review the current initiatives our community is undertaking I can honestly say I believe we are leading the way when it comes to LOGMOD initiatives. Just recently we have instituted OIS-MC, which replaced the antiquated MAARS-II accounting system, OIS-R which has replaced ROLMS at our ASP’s. MAKE has proven to be a flexible and powerful Enterprise that is growing to meet the future demands. The Systems team is exploring a tool called MAKE-LITE which will provide forces that are forward deployed with access to a down scaled MAKE by utilizing smaller bandwidth that will provide better connectivity and better access to information. There are more, too long to list here.
Our MOS School at Redstone Arsenal, Hunstville, Alabama will be relocating to Ft. Lee, Virginia during 2011. A full review of our Periods of Instructions and Course Descriptive Data is underway as we bring our course of instruction in line with a newly revised Training and Readiness manual. Your input is important as we attempt to align our essential tasks with what we do on a daily basis as ammunition technicians and managers.
FY08 presented some unique challenges, and the coming years will as well, as we strive to continue to provide ammunition support for both combat requirements and training allowances. Our teamwork is as important as ever to ensure the ammunition inventory is forecasted, managed, and distributed more effectively to meet the collective needs of the Marine Corps. Education is the key to ensuring that our limited assets are fully utilized in the best manner to train Marines. Take any opportunity that presents itself to educate your chain of command on ammunition Life Cycle management, i.e. a bullet expended today is replaced two years from now.
Like always, please let me know if you have any questions.
S/F,
Deputy Program Manager
Program Manager for Ammunition
Marine Corps Systems Command
