Product Baseline

WHAT:

The product baseline is the approved product configuration documentation, sometimes referred to as the "as-built" configuration.

Product configuration documentation is the detailed design documentation including those verifications necessary for accepting product deliveries (first article and acceptance inspections.)  Based on program production/procurement strategies, the design information contained in the product configuration documentation can be as simple as identifying a specific part number or as complex as full design disclosure.

WHEN:

The Product Baseline is established after the PCA has verified the documentation.

WHO:

The System PM establishes/approves the Product Baseline for CI managed by the Government.

The contractor establishes/approves the Product Baseline for CI managed by the contractor.
