Electronic Document Access – Next Generation (EDA-NG)

Description

EDA-NG combines Web technologies with electronic document management to facilitate the electronic sharing of business information across the Department of Defense (DoD). EDA-NG has eliminated paper files and provides a single-source to DoD official documents. It also provides a Contract Deficiency Report (CDR) capability used to report/track/resolve contract deficiencies.

Documents are available in Portable Document Format (PDF) and Extensible Markup Language (XML) Format. The application is also capable of sharing data between systems via Electronic Commerce/Electronic Data Interchange (EC/EDI) conventions.

Operational Impact

EDA-NG reduces the cost and time DoD spends correcting contract and disbursement related errors by providing a net centric capability to share and import/export data. EDA-NG also provides the users’ community and their systems with reach back pre-population capability of required data, thereby minimizing keystrokes and key punching errors.

Program Status

All USMC Standard Procurement System (SPS) sites are transmitting contract documents to EDA-NG via the Universal Interface (UI) and the Government Exchange (GEX). Current EDA-NG version: 7.5.3.1. Recent upgrades, in part, enhanced the Contract Deficiency Report (CDR) process which gives the capability to report/track/resolve contract deficiencies to resolution.

The Marine Corps looks to move to a more data centric repository instead of award image and phase III C2D for WAWF.
